Josh Layland

Josh Layland is an experienced rock climber with a passion for instruction and personal development, both in the gym and at the crag. Having previously earned the Climbing Wall Instructor certification during his time working at UCF, Josh works to shape instructional programming at Blue Swan Boulders and guide new instructors through new material as it emerges. Josh’s favorite style of climbing is both sport and trad climbing, as long as it brings him to new heights. As a coach, Josh’s goal is to provide climbers with technical ‘tools’ for their ‘toolbelt’, and to help climbers notice their weaknesses and turn them into training objectives. “I think my favorite part of teaching in climbing is helping others through those little moments where something brand new just clicks, and a move sticks. It’s through intentional, thoughtful climbing that these moments are possible, and I’m happy to help anyone push their training to a new level.
